I wish I knew the length of a minute.
I know the length of a minute is 60 seconds. In 60 seconds you can cook minute rice, pour a drink, tie your hair up, hold a plank, or daydream. What you do can make that minute feel longer or shorter.
Feelings are created and destroyed between the seconds.
If you’re holding a plank, the seconds pass by extraordinarily slowly. If you’re daydreaming, a minute might as well be a millisecond. It’s all abstract I guess.
So how can you know for sure the length of a minute? One minute can feel infinitely long or short depending on what you’re doing; and the activity itself determines how long that minute feels. That makes it a value judgement, doesn’t it?
I can spend minutes daydreaming and waste away. I can spend minutes writing and slow down the feeling of time for a bit. It’s a choice I get to make.
But damn, as much as I know no right answer exists. I wish I knew the right length of a minute. I wish I knew the right things to do to feel that minute.
It’s like that stupid John Green quote about infinities. Wish I knew how to enjoy my little infinity.
